Our breeding program at the ranch began in 1999 with a base group of Sam females. From day one, the focus was on the utilization of the strongest genetics available. Our insemination program began with White Lightning the Sire of Champions. Strong consistent genetics for Velvet, producing Velvet over 40 lbs. four times and 3rd place International Breeders Three in both 2 and 3 year olds. Going on to produce many sons who would out produce him, the signature of a really great sire. White Lightning produced daughters with superior maternal qualities packaged in big thick bodies and quite dispositions. Truly one of the all time greats! We followed with IKR Igor 872, a big strong bodied dual purpose bull who also had the ability to out produce himself. IKR Igor was 1996. 4 year old International Gold Winner, His Sire Angus; a 1/2 interest sold at Auction for $125,000. Scored 456 Boon and Crocket. The great, great grand Sire IKR #2 who sorted a 9 x 10 hard antler rack scoring 459 Boon & Crocket appears twice in the pedigree of Igor. Igor also claimed 3 rd. place International 2 year old Breeders Three Winner in 1999. Daughters have been sought after topping many sales in Sask. We then followed with King, the multidimensional, dual purpose bull producing 50.98 lbs. of Velvet at 8 years and 506 1/8 pts. at 10 years. 4 Time International Velvet Champion as well as Hard Antler Champion. No other bull to date has made this great achievement. King progeny are very calm in nature. Breeders Three Winners spell Predictability!!! In our herd, the Clearstone influence and some Cassius can also be found. Antler Hill Elk ranch, breeding the Best to the Best. Where solid genetics prevail, rather than the feed pail. We make sure our animals have the best grass and hay as well as a continuous supply of a well balanced mineral that the animals like and readily consume. Whole oats are used to grow calves along with the best hay available. We were voluntary members of the CWD surveillance program before it became mandatory. Our current Status is Class B, expecting to be A Class in January of 2007. Our most recent TB and Brucellosis test was completed April 6, 2006. |
